General Information

Product Materials and Design

The basic insulated panel is provided in a 3.5” thick configuration with an R-factor of 27 and a width of 24".

Panels are factory cut to length as required up to a maximum of about 30 feet.

Metal

The exterior and interior metal skins are fabricated from 24 gauge Galvalume, Galvaneal, or Galvanized steel (G-90) conforming to ASTM Specification A-446, Grade D (Tensile Strength Ultimate yield 65,300 PSI ). The galvanized coating conforms to ASTM A525-67 and Federal Specification QQ-S-775d, Type 1 class d. The metal panel is continuously roll formed with an interlocking joint system.

Load Strength

Panels are capable of supporting specific loads. Maximum span versus loads are detailed in a load span tables.

Panel Joints

Panels are fabricated with a double interlocking tongue and grove joining system.

Insulation

The panel-insulating core is a Class A urethane, foamed-in place between two metal skins with adhesion to each skin to provide a composite structural action of the panel components.

Trim

Metal Flashings and Closures can be extrusions or factory formed from the same material as the face panel.

Fastening

Panels are secured with a two-component epoxy thixotropic adhesive that has very high shear and peel strength. Tek screw (self-drilling screws similar to sheet metal screws but have a "drill bit-style" point that can drill its own pilot hole) can also be used but are more labor intensive. The screws are zinc or cadmium plated. Flashing and accessories are installed with zinc or cadmium plated sheet metal screws and/or diameter pop-rivets as per manufacturer’s standard practice.

Urethane Foam Core Meets The Following Standards:
  1. A.S.T.M. D1622-59T Density - 2.3 pcf
    A.S.T.M. E-84 Steiner Tunnel Tests - Flame Spread 5
    Smoke Developed – 50 to125
    Fuel Contributed - 0
  2. Urethane Foam Core is UL-FM Listed Class 1.
  3. Foam is 95% closed cell structure.
  4. The urethane core is:
    • Inert and not non-toxic
    • Not be subject to mildew, fungus or odors
    • Not affected by condensation
    • Does does not attract vermin or bacteria
  5. The 3.5" thick composite panel has a “U” value of 0.043
